Riza Torrado, known popularly as Riz to her peers and networks, is the Philippines Lead for the National Models for Women’s Safety Online (NMWSO) Program.
She has nearly two decades of experience in social development, serving both the Philippine government and international organizations. Her expertise spans gender programming and safeguarding, peacebuilding, and humanitarian action, where she has led projects that promote gender equality and protect vulnerable communities. Throughout her career, Riz has played a key role in advancing women’s rights, particularly in areas affected by conflict and humanitarian crises.
Beyond her professional work, Riz has a deep passion for music and plays several instruments, including the harp, piano, and flute. She is fluent in English, Tagalog, and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
Riz remains dedicated to empowering women and continues to make a meaningful impact in the areas she is most passionate about. In her free time, she volunteers in her Quezon City community, providing support to women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence. Through her efforts, she helps them rebuild their lives and regain confidence.
