In line with Development Gateway’s commitment to using open-source technology, and building on the transparency and community benefits we’ve seen from opening the Aid Management Platform (AMP) source code last year, DG is pleased to announce that we’ve made the AMP Offline application fully open-source.

​​​​​​​Last month, in partnership with the National Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority (ANACIM), DG held a co-design workshop to better understand the visualization needs around agro-climatic data. We worked with ANACIM’s Multi-disciplinary Working Group (GTP), to reflect on the content and design of AD3’s interactive platform, and decided how best to present each indicator to facilitate decision-making.

In January 2020, in partnership with WIM Guinea and OSIWA, Development Gateway (DG) launched the Women in Mining Pilot Index (WIM Index) that aims to quantify and visualize the impact of mining activities on communities – especially on women and young people. Last week in partnership with Women in Mining (WIM) Guinea and the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), we celebrated the official launch of the WIM Guinea Index prototype. Since November 2018, Development Gateway (DG) has led the Visualizing Insights on Fertilizer for African Agriculture (VIFAA) program, a four-year partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. VIFAA is working to address the supply, demand, and use of fertilizer data at both country and regional levels. To do so, we’re focusing on cross-stakeholder collaboration,

VIFAA Kenya implementation began in April 2019. Across VIFAA, we see cross-stakeholder partnerships as a key entry point to meet country and regional fertilizer needs. In Kenya, we are leveraging these partnerships to co-develop work plans that specifically address key data – and data use – gaps. Our approach to strategic decision-making starts with addressing those data gaps. In consultation with country stakeholders each step of the way, we will also identify data sources and co-design fertilizer dashboards.
