Narrow the Gendered Data Divide by Investing in Women
As we approach Beijing+25, awareness about the literal value of gender equality continues to rise—but actual progress has stalled. The 2020 World Economic Forum Gender Gap Report reveals women’s under-representation is most acute in data, digital, and technology fields that will drive economic growth over the next decade. According to the report, just 12 percent of cloud computing, 15 percent of engineering, and 26 percent of data and artificial intelligence professionals are women.

OpenDCH is a partnership between AidData, Development Gateway, the Ministry of Health’s Direction de l'Informatique et de l'Information Sanitaire (DIIS), and USAID/Côte d’Ivoire.

DG recently participated in Elimika Wikiendi, an open online space for Kiswahili speakers to discuss issues including health, research, development, and technology in Tanzania and East Africa. The platform educates, raises awareness, and prompts online dialogue using the hashtag #ElimikaWikiendi.
Creating Open Geographic Data for the Fight Against HIV/AIDS
Tremendous progress has been made over the past two decades in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa. Citizens are more aware of the virus, medications have been improved, and access to support has increased. In Côte d’Ivoire, a remaining challenge in combating HIV/AIDS is to more effectively target hotspots and to ensure that resources are finding their way to local communities with the greatest needs for prevention and treatment.

PRESS RELEASE – As an international nonprofit, Development Gateway has become known for international thought leadership on data for development and our experience in country-led data programs around the world. We are pleased to announce that DG has received an award from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) to implement an innovative, results-based project, “Data for Youth Services Collaborative (DYSC) in Côte d’Ivoire.” Over the next 27 months, we will bolster the sub-national supply and use of data for Ivorian citizens, engage youth as champions of these services, and fuel innovation.
Countdown to 2030: Accelerating Momentum towards Ending Preventable Maternal, Newborn, and Child Deaths with UNICEF
DG is pleased to announce the recent launch of the Countdown 2030 Country Dashboards and Profiles. In recent months, we partnered with Countdown 2030 and UNICEF, a Countdown 2030 member, to develop a series of comprehensive dashboards that illuminate progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, Good Health and Wellbeing, which calls for the end of preventable maternal, newborn, and child deaths. The Dashboards and Country Profiles visualize data that is provided through an API serviced by UNICEF.
